When
Miley Cyrus won the
2014 MTV Music Video Award for “Video of the Year,” with her "Wrecking Ball" video she beat out
Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, Pharrell and
Sia. But she regained the love of some of her old fans when instead of accepting the award herself she had a young homeless man accept the award! She sent a young man named Jesse, who accepted the award on behalf of the runaways and homeless youth in Los Angeles.
Jesse's speech was beyond touching and it was meant to bring awareness to the growing homeless population in Los Angeles, which is the largest population of homeless youth in America. Jesse urged fans to visit Miley Cyrus’ Facebook page where they can help to make a difference.
Her Facebook page reads:
“Help me raise awareness and funds to end youth homelessness! This is just the beginning for me, but we’re going to get started now by focusing on My Friend’s Place, a homeless center for young people in Hollywood.”
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream, but a dream you dream together is reality,” he said...
